I was a little excited when I saw The Maccabees released a new album. And then I listened to it and my excitement turned to disappointment. They blew it. Maybe it’s the change of style. Or maybe it was rushed. The songs seem unpolished. When you get a glimpse of what seems like a good song it’s quickly obscured by murky chorus and gratuitous riffs. Animation marathon
Another movie marathon night. This time I even chose a theme: animation.
I started with a second viewing of Millennium Actress. It’s one of those movies that holds up to multiple viewings. It’s an extraordinary story with an amazing soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa.
Followed up with Grave of the Fireflies. I don’t think I’ll ever be inclined to watch this movie again....
